This week's travel blog takes us to the Las Vegas Strip! As you know from my last travel blog (Click here) we went on a family trip for my Dad's 50th birthday which included travelling from LA to Las Vegas!
After 2 days of driving the Pacific Coast highway and a short overnight stay in Yosemithe we arrived in Las Vegas around 2pm, checked into our hotel and headed straight for the slots!
There are several hotels on The Strip all with different price ranges to suit your budget... Something for everyone. We stayed in the Wynn hotel at the end of The Strip which was one of the most luxurious places I have ever been in. With Egyptians cotton bed sheets, Michelin star restaurants, a country club and David Guetta as resident DJ it is a little bit of heaven! I highly recommend saving that extra bit and staying here. You won't regret it!
As you can imagine Las Vegas itself has a lot to offer. From countless shows from world class performers like Rod Stewart and Celine Dion to wild party life or just relaxing by the poolside. The main attraction in all the hotels are the colourful casinos. Put a few pound by for the gambling, you're going to do it!
It's the only place in the world you will enjoy losing money! If you're lucky enough you might break even or if you are exceptionally lucky win a jackpot......... Like me! ;)
I won a small jackpot from a 25cent bet and it was one of the best experiences I've had. Of course I spent the money the minute I got it but hey, it had to be done!
We spent 5 days here with one of the days travelling to the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon.
If you don't do anything else, make it your business to see these two wonders of the world. The Hoover Dam is a 2 hour drive from Vegas and well worth the visit. There is a museum there that costs a couple of dollars however we just walked across the dam and didn't go into it. It cost $10 for parking and you could stay as long as you wanted.
After that we continued onto the Grand Canyon, one of my favourite parts of the trip. It is another 2 hours drive but it is worth it! No picture does it justice,
You realise you are a very small person in a very big, beautiful world! Absolutely Breathtaking! The only catch is it costs $50-$80 per person depending on the package you go for. In my opinion it is a bit steep but you can spend as long as you want there.
In summary things to do:
The Strip and all the hotels (they are amazing both inside and out)
Freemount Street (Where it all started and an experience in itself)
Little White Chapel
See a show
All the nightlife
Hope you enjoyed this post! Vegas is honestly one of the most brilliant, exciting places I have ever been! Don't think twice and just book it!
Until next time,
