Spending 6 hours on a train might not sound that appealing but when it is branded the most scenic train on earth it makes the journey a slightly more enjoyable experience. I was lucky enough this summer to interrail through Scandinavia and one of my journeys was on the Oslo - Bergen train line. The photos will speak for themselves...
The journey itself is close to seven hours long. However the trains are always very comfortable. I was skeptical at the start of the journey when all we were seeing was trees but after about an hour the breathtaking views began.
The train brings you right up to 5000ft above sea level and once you have reached the summit of the climb up you are greeted with amazing glaciers and majestic mountains. I for one was amazed at the glaciers that were enormous once up close. this went on for miles and with the occasional waterfall and lake thrown in the mix it was truly an incredible experience.
The rest of the journey consisted of mirror image lakes like the one pictured above. An experience of a lifetime and views I will never forget. I have been on a scenic train through Austria and while it was breathtakingly beautiful this journey topped it tenfold.
We finally arrived in Bergen after the journey and I had no idea how pretty the town would be. I definitely recommend if you do ever go to Norway put the Oslo - Bergen Train on your list of things to do! You will not be disappointed!
A super quick and slightly random post I know! I am a bit out of touch after a break away from blogging. Hope you enjoyed this post, the pictures don't do any justice to how incredible the journey was!
Until next time,
