Probably one of the most asked questions I receive when applying makeup to my lovely ladies is 'What's Primer?' or 'Why do you use primer?'.
There are no rules to any sort of makeup to say you have to use primer however, I find it is a necessary step in making makeup last and look flawless.
To get technical; the ingredients in primers (example: glycerin) makes a "tacky" base which allows makeup to stick to skin and stay on for longer. Pore filling primers like the Benefit Porefessional are great for filling in pores and fine lines leaving the skin smooth and ready for foundation.
Finding a primer to suit your skin is the biggest 'task'. If you have oily skin a matifying primer or an oil controlling primer would be best. Some of my favourites to use are the MAC Oil Control or the BareMinerals Prime Time.
If you struggle with dry skin primer is equally important as moisturiser. The primer you need to look out for should be hydrating. Oil based primers like the Smashbox Primer Oil is good or the YSL Blur Primer. Oil based primers add hydration to the skin and keep it dewy and fresh throughout the day.
Investing in a good primer will make all the difference to the longevity and application of your makeup. A simple easy step to making your face flawless! :)
