Recently, while doing one of my friend's makeup she asked me about some of the products I was using and would I recommend them for everyday looks. So I got thinking that if I had to narrow down to 5 products I could not go without from MAC Cosmetics what would they be...
Today I am bringing you these five products and the reasons why I feel they are so good. It wasn't very hard to narrow down to be honest, as I chose the products I use on myself and my clients every time I do makeup.
1. Prep + Prime Fix+
This is one of my most used products. I go through this stuff at least once a month but it is simple 'magic' in a bottle. Fix+ is a setting spray that can be used in a multitude of ways. From setting makeup to simple refreshing a bare face this product is great. It cost €21 for 100mls. Anyone that has used this knows how great it is for helping makeup last all night. It can also be used to intensify shimmer eye shadow and highlighter by applying a few sprays to the brush you are using. I honestly could not live without this. It's one of those products that once you use it once you'll be hooked!
2. Mineralise Skin Finish Pressed Powder
Again, another staple to my everyday makeup this powder sets makeup in place and gives extra coverage. It is a baked powder which feels soft on the skin and not cakey like some setting powders. You can wear it along for light coverage although I prefer to use it for adding coverage and longevity to my liquid base. The shade range goes from light to dark with 15 shades to choose from. It does cost €31 but it's great to have in your handbag or if you are in a hurry.
3. Pro Longwear Paintpot in Soft Ochre
MAC's paintpots are cream eye shadows that can be used on their own or as a base for eye shadows and pigments to stick to. They are great if you have oily lids as they prevent shadows from creasing. Costing €19 per pot they come in a range of colours. My favourite by far is 'Soft Ochre'. This is a great neutralizing colour that works for most skin tones. It is perfect to give an even colour for shadows to go over and sets to ensure your eye shadow will not budged throughout the day or night. If you were to only purchase one paintpot this would be the one I would recommend. I've already used three in the past few months! A great product to have!
4. Pro Longwear Concealer
As the name suggests, this is a long lasting concealer. What I love about this, and why I use it all the time is because it gives great coverage while still being light and friendly to the skin. This is particularly important when applying products to the under eye area. The skin under your eye is a lot thinner and more sensitive than the rest of your face so it's important to use products that are kind to the skin in that area. Pro Longwear concealer does just that and a little goes a long way. It also doesn't crease or settle into lines which is also a great plus! It costs €23 for 9mls. It is expensive and there are a few downsides... The pump that comes attached ALWAYS gives too much product. Half a pump is more than enough to conceal the face but it can be hard to master the 'half pump' action. Also it comes in a glass bottle. I have first hand experience in knowing if you drop it, the glass will break so handle with care. Overall it is worth it!
Ok... So I HAVE cheated a bit here in saying lipsticks I know. However I use MAC lipsticks on a daily basis and never get sick or tired of that yummy bubblegum smell. Aside from the wide range of shades, the lipsticks come in a variety of textures from matte to luster to amplified. My personal favourites are the amplified or satin lipsticks. They have great colour payoff, come in great shades and last and are what made MAC famous! Most of the lipsticks cost €20 however some limited edition ones are a few euros more. Almost all girls that love makeup have at least one MAC lipstick stashed somewhere.
If you would like to purchase any of these products they are all available on the Brown Thomas website or in store.
Are any of these your favourites? Have you tried any for yourself? Let me know!
Hope you enjoyed reading this post. These are products I genuinely use every time I apply makeup to myself or someone else. They are tried and tested and work brilliantly.
Until next time,
