Is it worth the hype?
For the past few months I've been searching for the perfect foundation for myself to use. I finally think I've found it in the Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation. A couple of weeks ago I ordered this foundation from the Brown Thomas website and fell in love with it after just one use.
According to the description the foundation is said to "Keep skin looking fabulous, breathing comfortably through heat, humidity and activity without changing colour, fading or coming off on clothes. Natural matte finish and SPF10 sunscreen to protect skin"
A long-winded paragraph to get your head around!!
What I love about it...
I have dry, sensitive skin and often I find throughout the day my foundation grips to dry patches on my skin. However I've found this product left my skin feeling hydrated and flawless looking even after hours of wearing.
The coverage is medium and can be built up to a full coverage without looking any way 'cakey', which is great for people with problem skin or redness. I found it worked well without a primer which is a plus as some days I tend to be lazy and skip that step.
I also like the fact that this foundation has a matte finish. Although it will not be everyone's cup of tea, it means highlighting the skin is left in your hands and you can add as much or as little as you like.
The low SPF is both a good thing and a bad thing for me. Because I am as white as a ghost, if there is any type of sun (a rare occasion) I burn like a crisp so I would like a higher SPF. However because the SPF is 10 in this foundation it will protect you from the sun and will look great in photographs (No flashback, Yaay!).
Although it is a bit pricey at €37 I would recommend it for anyone with dry skin. It looks and feels amazing and is worth the money if I'm honest. If you are going to treat yourself to a high-end makeup product, foundation is the way to go!
You can see a few pictures of different looks of created using this foundation. Hope you enjoyed reading this post.
Until next time,
