Having EXTREMELY dry skin and knowing the struggles of finding a foundation that suits dry skin, I thought I'd share my tops foundations that work for me. I have tried and tested so many foundations from both drug store and high end brands to find the perfect combinations for my dry skin. Obviously every skin type is slightly different so what works for me might not necessarily work for you but these are the products I use on all my dry skin clients and they never let me down.
1. MAC Face & Body...
If I was to recommend any high end foundation to people MAC's Face and Body would be the winner every time! This is a great foundation that has build-able coverage going from light to medium. It is great for all skin types but in particular dry skin. This foundation is water based which leaves the skin feeling hydrated. It feels extremely light, almost like moisturizer when being applied and sets waterproof to give a long lasting finish. It's available in a wide range of colours and leaves a natural - yet flawless look to the skin.
It does cost €31.50 for 50mls which is pricey however it is worth investing in a good foundation. My all-time favourite by a mile!
2. Max Factor Ageless Elixir...
A slight mouthful to remember this '2in1' product contains both serum and foundation. Costing €17.99 and available in six shades from extremely pale to dark this is a great foundation to have at hand. The serum means you don't need primer and the foundation itself feels silky smooth on the skin. Plus everyone loves a bit of anti age in anything!
It has SPF 15 which protects the skin from sun damage and it keeps the skin moisturized all day. It does feel slightly heavier than some foundations I've tried (You'll know you're wearing it!) but it feels lovely on the skin and does not go cakey or flaky! The packaging is also nice and light so it won't weigh down your makeup bag.
3. L'Oreal Paris True Match...
A cult favourite L'Oreal Truematch is a great drugstore foundation that suits any skin type. Available in 12 shades - it is more yellow based. It is hydrating and blurring giving the skin a completely flawless finish. It doesn't cling to dry patches or fill in pores making them visible. I have been using this foundation for years and every time I come back to it I fall in love all over again. I find for best results you should apply with a damp sponge. It is worthy of all the hype it receives and never disappoints.
These are by far my most used top 3 foundations for dry skin. Using a hydrating primer such as the Smashbox Photo Finish helps moisturise and hydrate the skin further. And it helps the makeup last longer! Always a plus!
Hope this helped some of my fellow dry skinned friends out there. Trust me, if they work on me they'll work on anyone! Hope you enjoyed this blog post.
