Cue the cliché..... Where has them 5 months gone! I can't believe we are now in June and half the year is almost over! Anyway, today I'm talking about my May beauty favs. Products I've been using the past month which include some olden goldies and new finds... You know the drill at this stage, now enough waffling. Here are my May Favourites!
Chanel Universal Bronze
Not going to talk too much about this as I have a dedicated blog post here. In a nutshell... I'm obsessed!
MAC Burgundy Times 9 Palette
I remember when I first got this palette way back last year it was the only thing I used for a really long time. I then went away from it and it was thrown in the back of the drawer and forgotten about. That was until two weeks ago when I picked it back up and started to use it again.
I love these palettes as they are compact and the colours are right up my alley.
UD x Jean Michel Basquait Eyeliners
First off this whole collection is beautiful but I love these two eyeliners from the new Urban Decay x Jean Michel Basquait collaboration. The colours are so different and unusual but really beautiful. I particularily love the acid green liner (Post Punk). The brick red (Anatomy) is also stunning, I've been alternating between the two with every look I've been creating recently. They retail for €20 from Debenhams.
Lancome Cream Cushion Blush
This little pot of magic is BEAUTIFUL. This is the shade Je M'appelle Rose and while it is branded as a cream blush it is more a highligher in my opinion. It is a stunning rose gold and I have been using this on all my clients to leave their skin looking healthy and glowing.
I did receive this at a press day recently and I have not put it down since. The texture is so unique I'm not sure how to describe it. It's one of those you will just have to swatch and see how gorgeous it is for yourself.
Laura Mercier Translucent Powder
It is worth the hype! The powder is so finely milled it just leaves the skin looking airbrushed. All my other setting powders have become obsolete since getting this.
Inglot Pigments & Brush
Since Inglot has come to Athlone it is alot more accessible for a lot of people in the Midlands - myself included. I recently picked up the 67 pigment which is a rose colour and the 54 body sparkle. The two of these combined make for the prettiest eye look. Obsessed!
I also picked up the new 38SS brush. I am loving this for foundation at the minute. I prefer a smaller brush when applying foundation so I can really work it into the skin and this brush is the perfect size.
MAC Faux Lipstick
A cult favourite and now one of my favourites. It is just the 'your lips but better' colour for me. I love it so much it is constantly in my handbag and no one else is allowed use it!
Duo Latex Free Glue
I feel eyelash glue is extremely underrated. It's one of them products that you forget about and yet it's a key in any makeup look. I love this one because it's latex free for anyone that is sensitive and I also love that it has a brush applicator which makes it so easy to get an even layer of glue on your false lashes!
So that's my favourites for the month of May. The eyeshadow palette has been my favourite find because I genuinely forgot how obsessed I was with it!
What are your favourite products at the moment? Let me know!
Until next time,
Today's post is all about the glow! Highlighters have blown up on the makeup scene in the last two years and there is no signs of them going away anytime soon. Today, I'm going to show you some of my favourite highlights, where you can get them and how much your bank balance will suffer. Here we go...
MAC Cosmetics - Soft & Gentle
Do I even need to explain? MAC's soft & gentle is a cult classic and with good reason. It is a stunning peach bronze colour that looks so pretty on tanned skin. It is highly pigmented and a little goes a long way. As you can see my one is much loved and once it's gone I will definitely be purchasing again! You can get it for €31.50 on the Brown Thomas website.
Hourglass Ambient Light Powder
The hourglass ambient lighting powders are some of the best setting powders on the market. They are expensive but they give a flawless airbrush finish as they defuse light. The above shade is Diffused Light and it is a white highlight that gives a natural 'glow from within' and photographs beautifully. They are available in a range of shades at Harvey Nicolas and cost €50
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector
Again Becca is well known for their beautiful highlighters and this one is my fave! It's in the shade Moonstone which was released with the Jaclyn Hill Collection and then made permanent. It is an intense glow so it's not for the faint hearted but if you love to blind people with them cheekbones then you'll love this. It's on Cult beauty for €36.
Sleek Highlighting Palette
So inexpensive, so amazing! This is by far my favourite hightlight palette. I love the lavender shade in the Solstice on my pale skin. It has one cream shade(top left) and three creamy powders. It also comes with a little brush but as per usual I have that taken out and lying round somewhere in the makeup room! You can pick Sleek Makeup up in pharamacies throughout the country or on Boots.ie and it's a lovely €14.95
MAC Oh! Darling
I wasn't going to include this as it was limited addition when I purchased it last Christmas but I am delighted to say that MAC have now made this a permanent product which means I can use it as much as I like without being sad when it's gone because I can buy it again! It's a gorgeous rich gold colour and I also love it for a pop of shimmer on the eyes. Grab it here for €31.50
So there you have it. My fave highlighters... Most of them are that gold finish but if I had to chose just one it would be the Sleek Palette. The shades are gorgeous and it's good value for money!
Hope you enjoyed reading! Why not add me on snapchat: @katierab13 for some banter.
Until next time
I know everyone says this but I cannot believe another month has gone by. Is it just me or is this year going too quickly? Anyways, here are my monthly favourites for August. I've been reviving some products from the archives and I have fallen in love with them all over again. Grab yourself a cup of tea and keep reading to find out more!
Inglot Freedom System Eyeshadows
If you would like to see a full blog post on my Inglot palette let me know but in brief, the shadows are affordable, amazing and highly pigmented. I have 40 shades and I love and use each and every one of them!
Soap & Glory Antibacterial Gel
This is a bit of a random one I know but when you're working on client's hand sanitiser is a must! I go through these like wild fire and what I love about the Soap&Glory one - aside from it being pink - is it smells so pleasant and fruity unlike the clinical smell these products usually have.
Milani Luminoso Blush
This has been a long time favourite of mine, so much so all the writing has worn off the packaging! It is a beautiful baked blush in a peachy coral which is great on all skin tones! I picked mine up on a trip to America but you can now purchase it from beautybay.com. It's also inexpensive and I've had mine nearly 18months and I still haven't hit pan on it yet!
Essence Lash Princess Mascara
This mascara is the bees knees! costing approximately €6 it is one of the best I have used. It is super black and the bristle allows you to coat every single lash without making them clumpy. I got this mascara in a Glossybox and haven't looked back. A great find and available in most chemists.
Garnier Micellar Water
I decided to include this in my August favourites for two reasons. One: I use it on the daily and never think of giving it the credit it deserves and Two: I picked up this cute mini in Pennys and it is so convenient to throw in your makeup bag. I'm sure you have tried this product so I'm going to move on...
These bad boys are a complete game changer. I have been using these when creating dramatic looks to prevent fall down and also make a super sharp winged liner. They make it super effortless and easy to do makeup and you don't have to work if you make a mess! Great for makeup artist to have in their kit and also for beginnings as they do all the work for you.
Avene Hydrance Serum
I received this serum in a goodie bag from Marissa's Masterclass(Click Here) and it's only in recent weeks I have started to use it. It is super hydrating and has cleared up my skin to look radiant and healthy. I applied one pump in the morning before moisturiser.
It is on the pricey side but invest in good skincare, it's one thing you won't regret!
Collection Lasting Perfection
The lasting perfection concealer has been a cult product and for good reason. It's cheap and cheerful and does a great job as an under eye concealer. I get the shade light and use it to conceal my dark circles and it covers them brilliantly. It also does not crease which is a major issue with most concealers!
NYX Lip Palettes
These are great palettes for a Makeup Artist to have in their kit. They are compact and lightweight and offer a great range of colours. I like to mix shades together to get custom colours. Nyx overall is an amazing brand and it is now available from Boots which makes it accessible for everyone. I personally love the pink palette but they also do an Orange and Brown/Nude which I have to pick up soon!
Hope you enjoyed reading this months favourites. Have you used any of these products before? What are you thoughts?
Until next time,
So as you can guess I combining my June & July monthly favourites because I was away for most of July (see travel blogs here) and I didn't get a chance to get my June favourites up before I left! So without further rambling, here's my monthly favourites...
Sleek Highlight Kit
It is only in recent months I have been using this and I simply love it! The colours are great for any skin tone and the lilac shade is stunning! Who knew purple cheekbones would be a thing! :)
You get one cream and three powder highlights which are pigmented and blend effortlessly. It is also super affordable which is always a bonus!
Amazing Shine 311T Lashes
These lashes are almost identical to the Ardell Demi Wispies a cult favourite among most beauty gurus! I actually prefer these as they are more 'wispy' and are super light you hardly know you have false lashes on. Costing only €3 they don't break the bank and I've worn mine up to 5 times!! Amazing Shine is Amazing!
Smashbox Dark Contour Kit
I wasn't sure whether I would like this contour kit however I have been using this compact as eyeshadows and the three of them together create the most beautiful burnt smokey eye! The deep red/brown is stunning as a crease colour and I am so glad I purchased it as I will be taking this product to a wedding in England in a few weeks. Three shadows, one simple compact travel makeup look!
YSL Le Teint Encre de Peau
*sexy french voice* Le Teint Encre de Peau is my newest obsession when it comes to foundation. I purchased this foundation for my makeup kit and anyone I have used it on has commented on how nice it feels on the skin. It is super lightweight with good coverage that works on all skin types. Aside from the top quality product the packaging is also classy and elegant. It is pricey at €40 however, I always recommend investing in a good foundation. Have a good base and everything will look good on it!
Too Faced Melted Liquid Lipstick
An old favourite of mine, these bad boys have resurfaced and I have fallen for them all over again! Coming in a range of shades they are pigmented and feel like velvet. This Melted Ruby colour is my favourite. It is the perfect red and the formula does not dry out your lips at all. A common problem for most liquid lipsticks.
Ted Baker Bodyspray
I bought this to bring with me on holidays instead of expensive perfume and it smells beautiful. Real fruity and fresh and it was approximately €5! Perfect for travel. I picked it up in the 'holiday 3for2' section in Boots.
MAC 217 Brush
I finally caved and purchased the much raved about 217 brush. It is a complete game changer! The packed bristles and domed shape make packing on colour and blending a dream. I get the hype and completely agree. It is a great little piece to have in your brush collection.
NARS Laguna/Orgasm Duo
I picked this up in Prague Train Station and it has been used on the daily since I got home. Laguna bronzer is a favourite of mine anyways but I never tried the Orgasm blush. Again, in my opinion it is worth the hype is gets as it suits everyone and has a slight gold shimmer which looks beautiful on the skin. The compact is super handy as you have two great cheek products in one small duo!
I know this was a long one so if you are still reading thank you for sticking with this! All these products mention have been reached for on a daily basis and they are a mixture of both high end and affordable.
I hope you enjoyed reading this post. What were your favourites this month? Let me know!
