In today's blog post we are going to talk about Bridal lipstick choices. Over the past few weeks I have gotten a couple of ladies asking me for lipstick recommendations so I thought I would stick them all up here in one blog post!
Your wedding day is one of the most important days of you life and you want to look your best for it. I have already wrote a blog on Bridal Trial Tips(Click Here). In it, one of the things I mention was lipstick and here is a few of my suggestions for perfect bridal shades.
The Pinks & Nudes...
The most common shades bride's tend to go for are the pink and nude tones as they are very natural and give you a 'your lips but better' look. Here are some of my favourites.
Yes this is on the pricey end of the lipstick range but it is by far my favourite pinky nude colour out of all the lipsticks in my collection. The formula is long lasting and super hydrating so there will be no chapped lips when going for that first kiss! It retails for €33 and if you are going to treat yourself I highly recommend this colour.
This colour is a stunning raspberry pink perfect for those who want a bit of colour on the lips but nothing to crazy or out there. It is a very natural colour and has a demi matte finish. Again it is hydrating and paired with a clear gloss is simple stunning, It costs €10.49 so it is a great inexpensive lipstick.
If you love nude lipsticks from MAC chances are you have heard of this shade. It is one of my favourites as it is not too light and not too dark - a perfect balance to make you lips look amazing. It is beautiful on tanned/darker skin and has a satin finish which adds a soft sheen to the lips. MAC Lipsticks sell for €20.
You by no means have to splurge on a lipstick and this Rimmel one is the perfect example of a beautiful colour at a super affordable price. The Rimmel Kate Lipsticks are great drugstore options as they have great pigmentation and are super hydration on the lips. This colour is a beautiful soft barbie pink and the best part is it only costs €7.49!
The Ultimate Reds...
For the brides to be looking for a vintage look or simple wanting to wear red lipstick these are the only two I recommend. Both are from YSL and both are breathtakingly beautiful! One is more of a true red and the other has a blue undertone to it.
It is number one for a reason. The best selling YSL Shade and one of the most amazing red lipstick out there! It is truly the Marilyn Monroe/Audrey Hepburn iconic red lipstick. If you are going for that 1950's look this is the one you need!
This YSL shade has more of a blue undertone to it making it a little bit softer and easier to wear that the 01 shade. I personally like reds with blue undertones as they look great with paler skin however this is a gorgeous colour and one of Khloe Kardashian's favourites. Honestly, if I had to choose between the two I would pick this one but that is of course personal preference!
I hope you found this post helpful and if you have worn any of these lipstick on your wedding day or are thinking of doing so let me know in the comments below!
Until next time,
In today's post I'm going to show you my favourite MAC lipsticks and lip liners. These are the shades I find myself reaching for on the daily; let it be for myself or for my lovely ladies. Each colour is a great starter shade if you are thinking of investing in some new lip products.
1. Velvet Teddy
Is it any surprise that this would be my most used lip colour. It is a matte formula and is the perfect nude for so many skin tones. A deep beige it is beautiful and my personal favourite!
2. Creme Cup
I love this shade for bridal makeup. It is a pretty pink with a slightly blue undertone making it soft and elegant while adding a wash of colour. A cremesheen lipstick it applies smooth and keep the lips soft.
A stunning satin finish, plum. This shade, although being dark, is easy worn with soft smokey eyes. If you don't like wearing bright/bold colours but want to try something this is a really good choice.
4. Viva Glam II
Another satin finish, this lipstick is a pink/beige with a touch of shimmer that is beautiful on tanned skin. Another positive with the Viva Glam range of lipsticks is that all proceeds from purchases go the the AIDS Fund. So you are getting a really pretty colour while doing your bit for charity. A win win situation!
5. Russian Red
This is my favourite red lipstick out of all the red lipsticks out there. It is a deep brick red with a blue undertone leaving it easy to wear (in red lipstick terms!). It is a matte formula that lasts but doesn't dry the lips. I love this colour.
These are a great range of colours to have and they are really pretty on all skin tones. Each lipstick retails at €20 and they are available online and in store @ Brown Thomas.
I hope you enjoyed this post and as always feel free to leave a comments below. Have you tried any of these? What's your favourite lipstick? Let me know! :)
Until next time,
So if you follow me on Snapchat (Katierabbettemakeup) you may have seen I went on a crazy makeup shopping spree in Dublin yesterday. I save up for weeks on end to do this every few months and not going to lie, I usually spend a fortune; But. I've worked hard and some of the items are essential for my kit. If you want to see what I picked up., keep scrolling! :)
I went to Brown Thomas on Grafton Street and I love the MAC Store there. I needed a couple of foundations for my kit so I went for my trusty Studio Fix Fluid and I got the shades NC30 and NC40.
I also picked up a travel size Storbe Cream. I love this as a primer as it adds glow to the skin. And the travel size is only €10 so it's good value too!
I also picked up two lip pencils in Beet and Chestnut. I love the MAC liners. They retail at €17 and are my favourites to use.
The whole reason I went to Brown Thomas was for the BACK TO MAC scheme they have which is trading in 6 empties (glass/plastic containers) for a free Lipstick/Lipgloss. I had been gathering empties for a while so I picked up three lipsticks and saved €60!
The shades I got where Film Noir (a deep brown), Brave (Pink Nude) and Stone (Grey Brown). I am excited to use these shades so keep an eye out for looks with them.
After Brown Thomas I headed over to the Inglot Store on St. Anne's Street to pick up the 77 eyeliner, duraline and two of the body sparkles in 71 and 49 (pictured below). As I have a Pro card I received a 20% discount which was great and the girls were lovely as always.
We stopped off in Liffey Valley on the way home for some food in TGI Friday's and I'm sure there's no surprise that a quick visit to boots was essential and in particular the YSL counter. I bought the new Top Secrets Moisturiser that can also be used as a primer. A Touché Eclat in Light 1 (The limited edition one) and a YSL lipstick no 26.
L'OREAL & NARS
The least exciting but probably most practical items I got were from MUJI which is a random shop on Chathem Street just off Grafton Street. They do all kinds of nick nacks and storage and I just picked up some slim cotton tips, and some storage containers for pigments.
So that's my Haul from yesterday's travels. Have you tried any of these things? Like I said before, I did spend a lot of money but I have been saving for a number of weeks/months to get these items. They were all bought by me, with my money so no hate! :)
I hope you enjoyed this blog post. If you'd like to see more of these hauls let me know below.
Until next time,
In today's blog post I have the ultimate nude lip for you guys at a fraction of the price. As some of you may know, Kylie Jenner made sales soar last year when she announced her famous lips were achieved with the MAC Cosmetics Whirl Lip Pencil. Because of her fame, this liner soon became sold out everywhere and to this day it is one of MAC's most popular shades.
Also a super popular shade is MAC's Velvet Teddy Lipstick and the two paired together make the most beautiful nude lip combo. I've found a dupe for both! :)
I love the MAC Lipsticks and Lip pencils but I was excited when I discovered I could achieve the same nude lip at a fraction of the price!
The Lipsticks retail at €20.00 while the Lip Pencils are €17.00.
So..... what's the dupes.
The Ps Love range from Penny's or Primark have some great products at a super affordable price. Being skeptical at first, thinking it was to good to be true that a lipstick costing €2.50 can be of good quality; I was mistaken!
The P.S Love Nude lip liner is almost if not the very same colour as Whirl! I cannot tell the difference!
Likewise the P.S Love Nude lip crayon is very similar to MAC's much loved Velvet Teddy!
These two combined cost only €4.00 (Lip Pencil - €1.50, Lip Crayon €2.50)
As you will see below, you cannot tell which one is the high end and which is the P.S Love range.
So you can achieve the perfect nude lip for less that €5 which saves you €32 compared to the two MAC products.
As you can see they are very close, in particular the two pencils. So go forth and be Kylie!
I hope you enjoyed this blog post and try out this amazing find! Have you any dupes to share? Leave them below!
Until next time,
