Every year after Christmas has gone and the resolutions begin I look forward to the award ceremonies that follow in January and February, in particular The Oscars . It is after all the ultimate award show!
From the amazing dresses to the incredible jewels the ladies really go all out and the makeup is always amazing! I must admit I do be more interested in the fashion than the actually awards and I find I become more of a fashion critic wannabe commenting on the presenters, winners, and performers while watching the show. Does anyone else do that?
This year's Oscars saw a lot of simple dresses paired with minimal jewels and sultry and sleek makeup and hair. Most of the celebrities kept their makeup simple and in my opinion they all killed it! I thought I'd share some of my favourite looks with you.
My favourite Oscar looks:
I thought Emma looked amazing in this gold sequined dress by Elie Saab. She kept the hair simple and the makeup consisted of an orange lip to give the look a little bit of edge.
First - can we just take a moment to appreciate this woman. J-Lo is 45! Yes, 45 years old and she is still looking AMAZING! Again in an Elie Saab dress she pulls off her signature look of golden goddess with pulled back hair and bronze makeup to complete the look.
This little black dress from Saint Laurent was one of the more simple yet brilliant looks of the night. Paired with a statement necklace and bold red lip the look is chic and sophisticated without trying too hard.
This lady killed it for me. By far my favourite look of the night. This custom made Thakooon salmon dress with jeweled neckline is simple and so elegant. Paired with an up-style, bronze eyes and pink blush, Anna looked amazing and stole the show for me. I liked this look so much I did a makeup look inspired by it.

Anna was my favourite red carpet lady from this year's award show. I loved her makeup so much I decided to try recreate the look she wore. This is what I came up with. I hope you like it.
